Beyond Length, Towards Legacy:
Introducing Raddis® Regenerative Extra Long Staple Cotton
Over the years, our brand partners have nudged us with one recurring question:
“Can you take your long staple cotton further? Can regeneration also mean Extra Long Staple (ELS) fibres - known for its exceptional strength, softness, and durability?"
We listened - and the journey began.

Our search led us to the Western Ghats, a region that breathes with agricultural heritage, teems with biodiversity, and holds soils rich in quiet promise. Farmers already familiar with growing ELS cotton and understanding the more demanding requirements it brings. There surrounded by timeless mountains and resilient farming communities, we began cultivating Raddis Regenerative Extra Long Staple (ELS) Cotton - a cotton that doesn’t just grow on the land, but restores it.
Because regeneration is never just about production. It’s about purpose.

What Is ELS Cotton - and Why It’s So Special
You may have seen the term ELS cotton on fabric labels or product descriptions. It stands for Extra Long Staple cotton - referring to the length of individual cotton fibres used to make fabric.
While Long Staple cotton fibres measure 29–31 mm, ELS cotton fibres can reach up to 35 mm in length. That extra stretch makes a world of difference. Longer fibres can be spun into finer, smoother, and stronger yarns, creating fabrics that feel luxuriously soft, resist pilling, and maintain their beauty over time.
Only a small share of the world’s cotton qualifies as ELS. In the U.S., it’s known as Pima cotton, in Egypt it is known as Egyptian cotton. Because of its rarity and superior quality, ELS cotton is the fibre of choice for luxury bedding, premium apparel, and high-end textiles where both comfort and durability matter most.
ELS cotton’s natural properties - its softness, tensile strength, and elegant drape - have long placed it among the finest fibres in the world.
In short:
ELS cotton = longer fibres → softer, stronger, longer-lasting fabric.
And with Raddis® ELS Cotton - is grown regeneratively, its strength extends beyond the fibre - into the soil, communities, and ecosystems that sustain it.

Did You Know?
ELS cotton can be spun into yarns up to 40% stronger than regular cotton..
From Seed to Soil: Building the Foundation for Regeneration
The journey of our Extra-Long Staple (ELS) cotton begins right where it matters most - at the seed. Each season, our team works closely with partner farmers to ensure they receive untreated non-GMO seeds that maintain purity, strength, and traceability from the very start.
Once the seeds are sown, our field teams stay connected - not just through field visits, but through ongoing trainings and on the ground support for any question that comes up. Together, we bring in regenerative farming practices that are simple, local, and practical:
- Preparing natural fertilizers using available farm materials such as cow manure, urine and farm waste - nourishing soil with zero synthetics.
- Managing pests with botanical concoctions made from e.g. neem leaves, botanical mixed - no chemicals disrupting the soil.
- Banning chemical inputs completely to protect soil microbes, fungi, and earthworms that rebuild fertility naturally.
- Boosting biodiversity big time with intercrops like coconut, neem, guava, moringa, banana, cow pea, redgram, maize, marigold, plus kitchen gardens for food security.
- Conserving water through improved soil structure from adding mulch.
- Using border plants like castor and marigold as natural windbreaks and pest barriers for resilient fields.
- Empowering women farmers with training, assured payments, and market links - breaking debt cycles for self-reliance.
- Sequestering carbon via regenerative practices - turning farms into allies against climate change while growing premium cotton.
Step by step, the soil starts to respond - you can actually see the difference in its texture and life. The fields retain more moisture, microbial activity increases, and crops look visibly healthier.
What’s most inspiring is that these changes aren’t happening in isolation. Farmers are learning, experimenting, and sharing what works best within their communities. What began as a small shift in practice is now becoming a shared movement of learning and adaptation.
And now, after months of observation and effort, we’re entering a proud moment:
The first harvest of Regenerative ELS Cotton.
It’s more than just a harvest; it’s proof that small, consistent changes in farming can lead to visible results - better soil, better yields, and stronger farmer confidence.

Moments We Loved from the Field
There are days that just stay with us - healthier fields, a good harvest.
But to us, they’re the heart of our work - quiet, beautiful, and full of life.

“It feels different this time,”she says, smiling. It’s a simple moment - that made us happy.

"The cotton plants looked brighter, greener, more alive. It wasn’t just growth; it was the soil responding - proof that natural methods were working quietly beneath the surface."
Regeneration Meets Excellence
Our field teams walk beside farmers through every stage - blending indigenous wisdom with present agro-ecological insights that restore soil life, nourish microbial health, and protect nature’s delicate balance.

Why It Matters: For Farmers, Brands, and the Planet
Choosing Raddis Regenerative ELS Cotton means joining a movement that values integrity as much as innovation. It’s a shared choice to:
- Rebuild soil health through natural amendments and cover crops.
- Enhance biodiversity, creating thriving, living farmlands.
- Conserve water through rainfed and water-efficient irrigation methods
- Empower farmers, ensuring equitable partnerships and improved livelihoods.
- Guarantee full traceability: from garment to ginning, from bale to soil.
A Shared Invitation
Regeneration doesn’t begin with big changes - it starts with one conscious choice.
For us, it began with the "Farmer". For you, it could begin with a single collaboration.
Let’s take the next step, together. If you’re ready to work with traceable, farmer-first cotton, say “Yes,” and let’s begin the journey towards meaningful impact.
